A diagnosis of cancer is enough of a challenge without having to travel out of town or out of state for the best treatment. East Jefferson General Hospital's Regional Cancer Center offers the latest in diagnostic and treatment technology right here in your community.

The Regional Cancer Center is conveniently located in the Yenni Pavilion at the corner of Ithaca and Hudson streets at the rear of EJGH. Designated, reserved parking is available for patients just outside the center's front door. Inside is a pleasant and calming atmosphere staffed by healthcare professionals who understand the unique needs of patients with cancer.

Infusion Center
Patients undergoing outpatient chemotherapy receive their treatments in the Infusion Center, located on the second floor of the Yenni Pavilion. Outpatient treatment allows patients to continue their normal daily activities to the fullest extent possible.

Radiation Therapy
Like chemotherapy, radiation therapy is often done on an outpatient basis. The Regional Cancer Center offers the latest technology for pinpointing cancer and delivering the most effective dose of radiation to the tumor. Treatment options include Intensity Modulate Radiation Therapy (IMRT), which delivers precise amounts of radiation to the tumor while limiting radiation exposure to adjacent healthy tissue.

Inpatient Oncology
Comprehensive inpatient services are provided by a multidisciplinary team that includes medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, hematologists, immunologists and other specialists, along with trained oncology nurses. Specialists consult with each other and with other healthcare professionals to effectively treat each unique case.

Cancer Registry
The Cancer Registry maintains a computerized database of all EJGH patients diagnosed with or treated for cancer. This data allows the hospital to participate in patient care studies that will ultimately improve care for patients with cancer. The registry also holds weekly multidisciplinary meetings of physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss cases for the benefit of current and future oncology patients.
