Rare But Deadly; Bacterial Meningitis increasing
The recent death of a Dillard University student from a bacterial meningitis infection has increased awareness of the disease in the New Orleans metro area. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cases of bacterial meningitis are rare, affecting approximately 1,400 to 2,800 people per year, most between the ages of 15 and 24. |
