Grateful Patient Leaves a Legacy of Health and Wellness

Fortune Dugan, M.D. and Dan HallDan Hall has been an iconic figure in the piano business since he opened Hall Piano in 1958. Initially located downtown on Camp and Julia streets, Hall moved the business to its present location on David Drive in 1969. Although he sold the business in 2001, he remains an avid music lover.

Now 85 years old, Hall is building a new legacy. This one is to be built on health and wellness positively impacting future generations. He openly credits his EJGH cardiologist, Dr. Fortune Dugan, with keeping him alive for the last 20 years. More than that, he is especially grateful for the care and compassion Dr. Dugan has shown him over the years.

"Health is the single most important aspect of life," says Hall. "Physicians and hospitals are the major contributing factors for how long we live and our quality of life, and Dr. Dugan, himself, has made a tremendous impact on the quality of my life. All of us should appreciate the jobs healthcare workers do for our community."

Hall believes the best way to thank Dr. Dugan and East Jefferson General Hospital is to leave a legacy gift to the EJGH Foundation in his will. Mr. Hall has designated his gift to benefit the EJGH Wellness Center, which opened its doors in 2000 with help from the Foundation donors.

"I believe in The Foundation, and I believe that people take their health for granted," says Hall. "Leaving legacies to benefit our doctors, hospitals and communities should be part of everyone's financial planning. I wanted to give back to the Wellness Center, in particular, because it benefited me so much."

"I am truly honored that Dan Hall believes that I have made such a difference in his life and that he is leaving a legacy to The Foundation because of the care I provided. One of the most satisfying rewards of being a physician is watching your patients improve their health and well-being while under your care. Through his gift, Dan has shown that he is a special individual willing to contribute to the health of generations to follow."
