Leah Woolf, Wellness Center Director

Leah began her career in the fitness industry, at the age of 16. She obtained her certification as a fitness instructor and began teaching at a health club in Boutte, LA. She assumed a management role here and would continue to advance her education. Leah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2006 and is the Director of East Jefferson General Hospital Wellness Center. She has a passion for fitness and additional certifications include certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Certified group exercise instructor through AFAA, and certified to teach 6 of 8 Les Mills programs. In Leah's spare time she is a member of the Voodoo Peloton cycling group, participates in charity bike rides, and participates in sprint triathlons.

Jessica Hotard, Wellness Center Supervisor

Jessie received her bachelor's degree in Kinesiotherapy and her masters in Sports Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi. She has worked in the health and fitness industry for 7 years. Jessie holds several certifications in Aquatic Exercise (AEA), Personal Training (ACE), BODY PUMP, RPM, and Water Safety and is registered through the American Kinesiotherapy Association (AKTA). She also has been acknowledged as a "Great 39" team member for the hospital. For 6 years Jessie has worked at the Wellness Center teaching land and water classes, serving as a full-time Health Fitness Instructor, shift lead and a personal trainer for the Wellness Center. Jessie has always had a passion for fitness and has played a variety of sports since she was 6. In the past she has been an assistant coach for a local high school soccer team, played intramural cabbage ball and soccer and currently enjoys biking and tennis. Jessie's goal is to motivate people to be excited about exercise and to have a more fulfilled and healthy life.

Martin Montgomery, Corporate Supervisor

Martin Montgomery, MEd, RCEP, CSCS is a Licensed Clinical Exercise Physiologist and the Corporate Wellness Program Supervisor at East Jefferson General Hospital. Martin completed his Masters Degree in Human Performance and Health Promotion in Exercise Physiology from the University of New Orleans. He has over 20 years of experience in program design, development and implementation of medically based wellness programs. Mr. Montgomery s past experience includes Industrial Rehabilitation, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Performance Testing and Corporate Wellness.

Martin also works as Program Coordinator/Case Manager of the Jefferson Parish Fire Department Wellness/Fitness Program. He is actively involved in his professional organization and is a Past President of the Louisiana Association of Exercise Physiologist. Martin is also the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Committee Chair of the Clinical Exercise Physiology Advisory Committee.

Marcy Naquin, Morning Lead (AM)

Marcy has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and has loved every minute of it! A majority of that time she spent teaching group fitness; she enjoys the interaction with her clients in class. Her education, along with her first-hand experience of growing up over weight, has given her a genuine outlook towards everyone she works with. Here at the Wellness Center, she enjoys group fitness, meeting and helping members, performing fitness orientations and helping out with health screens with Corporate Wellness. She feels, "If you are looking to be fit and healthy... knowledge is power!"

Marcy graduated from the Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Fitness and Human Performance. Her certifications consist of AFAA (group fitness), AEA (Aquatics), and RPM. She considers working at the Wellness Center a rewarding experience; especially having the opportunity to work with the disease management classes. "The human body is a wonderful machine that we can manipulate, maintain and improve with a little movement and a whole lot of fun!" This is not a job for Marcy, but a passion... for everyone to LIVE WELL and to enjoy the process. She believes self-acceptance is the first step to success!

J.E. Lawrence, Evening Lead (PM)

J.E. has been an employee at East Jefferson Wellness Center since September 2008. Prior to coming here, he attended Mississippi State University where J.E. received a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology (2006) and a Master's Degree in Exercise Science (2008). During J.E.'s time at Mississippi State, he worked with the strength and conditioning program to help oversee football, baseball, and women's soccer workouts. While working on his Master's degree, J.E. was a graduate assistant and taught exercise physiology lab courses. J.E. has had the privilege of working with great people everyday, and enjoys helping people accomplish their goals. Aimee Berthelot, Health Educator

Aimee believes "Attitude is Everything." With the right attitude, anyone can accomplish their goals. There have been people here at the Wellness Center that battle some of the worst chronic conditions and yet they come everyday and it keeps them moving and enjoying life. It gives them the ability to do the other leisure activities that they enjoy doing that may not be possible without a regular exercise routine.

Aimee received her bachelor of sciences degree in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University in 2007. She has since then continued her education through seminars and continuing education courses in special populations such as Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Osteoporosis, Fibromylagia, and Cancer. She has been in the fitness industry since graduating in 2007. Aimee is a professional member of American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and Louisiana Association of Exercise Physiologist (LAEP). She is also a certified Aquatics Exercise Association (AEA) Instructor.

Leo Muralles, Corporate Wellness Lead

Leo has a BS in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and has 6 years of experience working in health promotion. Leo is currently working on a Masters in Arts Degree with a concentration in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Southeastern Louisiana University. Leo is the Wellness Rewards program coordinator at East Jefferson General Hospital and is responsible for providing health education and corporate wellness programming to the employees at EJGH. Leo is also responsible for developing and coordinating wellness programs for EJGH corporate clients.
